These three watercolors are going into a show in May, running through the end of May. I used black and white references for all three of these paintings. The John Sloan portrait comes from a photo in his book "Gist Of Art" -- a very worthwhile read. The other two come from photos of railroad workers and scenes from the 1940s. I am working in watercolor in my evening class trying to loosen up a little. The show is in Chicago in a gallery in Roscoe Village.

Stefan: Thank you for your kind comments. I have only started this blog and don't yet know how to enlarge the pictures, I am just learning. I appreciate being able to share art with others and find your work to be an inspiration. Soon I will be posting the copy I did of my "Two Satyrs" by Rubens.

Thank you for posting thoughts as you work. After some searching I was delighted to find a painting I've recently purchased here on this blog: the latter of these three, the night landscape, name and the title "Night Shift Nocturne" written on back--though no signature. I like the painting very much, and have removed the 8X10 mat and reframed so the entire 9X12 painting is now visible. Any more thoughts to share on this last painting?
