This is a pastel, 7"X10", done on Wallis sanded pastel paper. (It's archival paper --- my question is -- is it archival sand?) I was on my 1,300 mile trip home from the workshop I attended in Cody, WY when I had to stop the car and take in this beautiful sky and color over the mountains. This is my second attempt at this. After all these gunmetal grey Chicago days, it is wonderful to see the color in this sky. I love it, and the sanded surface is interesting to see in this one and the earlier one. Is it the same paper?
Yes, this is Wallis sanded paper and has the look and feel of plain old sandpaper. I could probably just go to True Value and buy cheap sandpaper, but then it wouldn't be "archival". As to Chicago --- Why do I live here, I wonder, with these grey skies? --- it can't just be for the block party. Although it's "Like Oak Park, but without the charm."
